HOW THE WEB WAS WOVEN (2-CD) Panther PR-004

COMING SOON! Elvis Presley´s legendary July 15, 1970 rehearsal on a deluxe 3-panel 2-CD Set! With better sound and more complete than ever before! And limited as usual: only 200 copies! Get it while you still can!

On July 15, 1970, Elvis Presley stepped onto MGM Sound Stage 1 in Culver City, California, for a high-stakes rehearsal session that would alter the course of his live performance career. Captured by filmmaker Denis Sanders for the legendary documentary Elvis: That’s The Way It Is, this afternoon saw the King of Rock and Roll stripped of his glittering Las Vegas stage capes, completely locked into the groove with his peerless TCB Band.

For decades, the historical value of this session was marred by notoriously poor audio quality. Because MGM’s film crews prioritized camera placement and lighting over precise microphone setups, the surviving audio tapes suffered from flat mixing and harsh peak distortion. Now, thanks to a brandnew exhaustive audio restoration the recordings on these tapes sound better than ever. For the first time, listeners can experience a crisp separation and booming low-end of a session that penultimates in one of the most intimate, breathtaking moments in the Presley canon: a solo piano performance of "How the Web Was Woven", which has Elvis vocal restored as it had previously been buried and was barely audible.

Mainly there's more depth to the recording, a better balance between Elvis´voice and the music and even more dialogues in between to be heard. For the first time a clean vocal can be heard on (as mentioned already above) “How The Web Was Woven”. “Ghost Riders In The Sky” and “Runaway” have to be mentioned as well - both have a clearer vocal than before. In the past two other labels had a couple of small parts of the session on their releases which weren't on the other one, so for the first time from start to finish it's complete (except the few songs that weren't recorded at all).
